Life at FOSTIIMA: More Than Just an MBA
What exactly is an institution? For some, it’s just a
building with classrooms and textbooks. But for many of us, it’s the place
where we dream bigger, learn beyond the curriculum, and shape the future
version of ourselves. When it comes to choosing a B school, no one really wants
to compromise. We all want the best of everything solid academics, engaging
peers, inspiring faculty, a strong alumni network, and of course, those
placement opportunities we secretly daydream about.
For us, that place has been FOSTIIMA Business School and
honestly, it’s been an experience worth talking about.
Why FOSTIIMA?
First, let’s address the obvious location, location,
location! Being in the heart of Delhi, the campus is buzzing with
opportunities. Corporates, networking events, industry leaders you name it, and
you’ll find it just a metro ride away.
And of course, FOSTIIMA stands for Friends of Seventy-Three
IIM Ahmedabad. That automatically means a strong legacy, a brilliant
network, and connections that go far beyond LinkedIn requests. In today’s fast paced
corporate world, having the right network is not just useful, it’s survival.
The Smooth Beginning
From admissions to settling in, things were smoother than we
expected. Counseling, documentation, loan assistance you name it, the team had
it sorted. No long queues, no unnecessary confusion, and certainly no “running
from one office to another.” It felt like the institute actually cared about
making the start of our journey stress free.
Learning with a Twist
The real fun began when classes started. And honestly, we
were blown away. Professors here don’t just “teach” they engage. It’s not about
dumping theories; it’s about applying them. Every session feels like a
brainstorming workshop where our doubts are welcomed, and the pedagogy is
deeply case based and practical.
Trips, Bonds, and Memories
Our journey kicked off with a three-day trip to Pangot,
Nainital. Imagine this: serene mountains, campfires, endless conversations,
and that one friend who can’t stop singing old Bollywood songs. (Yes, every
group has one!) But beyond the fun, the trip was about bonding. It made us
realize that MBA isn’t just about studying hard it’s about building friendships
that could turn into lifelong collaborations.
Back in Delhi, things got even more exciting with industrial
visits. At Safexpress, we got a real world look at logistics precision.
At Amul, we learned how an iconic brand stays rooted while scaling
globally (and yes, the visit made us all crave butter and ice cream). At Kuber,
the exposure gave us a peek into how businesses really function behind the
scenes. These weren’t just visits; they were reality checks of how textbooks
come alive.
Guest Lectures That Hit Hard
Some sessions have left a mark already.
- Manu
Wadhwa, CHRO of Sony Pictures Limited, decoded the future of talent
acquisition and reminded us that adaptability is the new superpower.
- Krishnank
Atrey, Head of Marketing at Keventers, gave us one of those “pause and
think” moments about choosing between career planning and
entrepreneurship.
And many more guest speakers nudged us to reflect on where
we want to be and how to navigate the next two years wisely.
The Campus Vibe
But hey, it’s not all about work. The peer diversity
is amazing students from across India bring their cultures, ideas, and energy,
making every group project a mini cultural exchange.
Then there’s Basement 2, our unofficial hangout hub.
Over endless cups of chai and the occasional table tennis match, friendships
grow and stress melts away. It’s these little breaks that recharge us for the
grind ahead.
On top of that, FOSTIIMA keeps things tech savvy with its LMS
(Learning Management System). Attendance, notes, assignments everything is
just a click away. The classrooms are modern, the infrastructure is solid, and
the support from staff has been nothing short of impressive.
The Takeaway
Up to this point, FOSTIIMA has been more than we expected.
It’s not just about getting an MBA degree; it’s about living an experience one
that combines academics, industry exposure, friendships, and personal growth.
If this is just the beginning, we can only imagine how
exciting the next two years will be. One thing’s for sure we’re gearing up to
step out as proud MBAs, ready to make our mark in the corporate world.
